   You should probably use noise reduction pads or strips that absorb the vibrations and thus reduce the noise between your roof rack and your vehicle's roof. These pads are both easy to install and also robust at sound reduction. I noticed that my roof was no longer a quiet oasis, so I bought noise reduction pads and the result almost immediately — there was considerably less room for racket.
